Plaque is a sticky, colourless deposit of bacteria that constantly forms on the tooth surface, and it can trap stains on the teeth. It begins forming a few hours after brushing, which is why we advise brushing at least twice a day and flossing daily.
Our hygienist uses scaling to remove plaque and calculus, preventing cavities, gingivitis and gum disease, then polishes the teeth to leave them feeling smooth. Regular appointments reduce your risk of gum disease and tooth loss, because even with a good brushing technique most people miss parts of their mouth.
